[⌊thimphu-bhutan-1⌉⌊thimphu-bhutan-1⌉[ (1)

Bhutan is a marvelous place of its own, full of regal and fancy things, having a
rich and strong foothold in its affluent past and people who are conservative yet
colorful. Within the depths of this nation lies another captivating city called
Thimphu, which is a vibrant juxtaposition of the old and the new, now thriving to
become known in a worldwide setting and luring more travelers along the process.

⌊thimphu-bhutan-2⌉⌊thimphu-bhutan-2⌉(2)

If you wish to spend a summer with little to no hassle at all, yet feel as if you’re
in the middle of something valuable, then Thimphu can supply you with that kind
of vibe. Revel in the uproar of innovation and obvious development, be entertained
by the strings of establishments meant to please the human condition and learn about
their heritage like a true blue scholar. Thimphu just has a lot to offer, so you
shouldn’t miss it for the world.

**Location**

Known as Bhutan’s capital city, Thimphu lies within the Chang Gewog and is currently
inhabited by a rough estimate of 105,000 locals.

⌊thimphu-bhutan-3⌉⌊thimphu-bhutan-3⌉(3)

Thimphu is cradled by the famous Raidak River, elevated at 2,320 meters above ground
and is specifically located in Bhutan’s western central region.

**Climate**

According to the Koppen Climate Classification, Thimphu is categorized under a subtropical
highland climate, which is owed to its positioning at a high altitude. In an annual
scale, the city has an average temperature of 13.6-degrees Celsius, with the months
of June until August regarded as the hottest.

⌊thimphu-bhutan-4⌉⌊thimphu-bhutan-4⌉(4)

When December kicks in, Thimphu registers negative temperatures and can go as low
as -21-degrees Celsius being the most frigid. The city accumulates a total of 56.18
inches of rain every year.

**Transportation**

The roads of Thimphu used by public transportation are aligned with how the city
is placed and the terrain that it is perched on. There are also quite a number of
developments for building more highways in Thimphu, further connecting the city
to other points of interest within the rest of Bhutan.

For those traveling via air, the only aviation terminal that can be used in Thimphu
and the rest of the country is the Paro Airport, which caters to both domestic and
international flights.

⌊thimphu-bhutan-5⌉⌊thimphu-bhutan-5⌉(5)

For bus services, Thimpu’s line is managed by the Bhutan Transport Corporation and
taxis are always available for travelers coming in from a nearby city or province.
One interesting trivia about Thimphu’s transportation concept is that it is one
of the two nation capitals in the world without traffic lights.

**What to See**

**Trashi Chho Dzong**

Dzongs are more locally known as Buddhist monasteries and if Thimphu would boast
one on its bedrock, it would definitely be the majestic Trashi Chho Dzong. One notable
feature of this famous landmark is the regal splendor it exudes, similar to the
closely knitted history that is found within its walls.

⌊thimphu-bhutan-6⌉⌊thimphu-bhutan-6⌉(6)

Be mesmerized by the sheer architectural style used on tiered roofs, colored walls
and the very floor covering the ground. Certainly a prime destination, you should
never hesitate to go to Trashi Chho Dzong if ever you’d be in Thimphu.

**National Institute for Zorig Chusum**

If you wish to stay longer in Thimphu and want to enhance your skills in arts and
crafts, the National Institute of Zorig Chusum can help you immensely. Known to
be the city’s most credible painting school, the institute will provide you with
excellent training sessions about the country’s 13 traditional art forms which include
woodcarving, embroidery, painting and statue making.

⌊thimphu-bhutan-7⌉⌊thimphu-bhutan-7⌉(7)

The showrooms found within this school display the real-life works of the students
who were educated and honed here over the past few years.

**Changangkha Lhakhang**

Established in the 12th century, the Changangkha Lhakhang is one of the most revered
temples in the whole of Thimphu due to the continuous flow of pilgrims paying their

## Investment on youth’s flamboyance in Coimbra

[⌊coimbramain⌉⌊coimbramain⌉[ (1)

Every once in a while, we crave to be on the phase when we can do everything that
we want because we’re simply not afraid. We can drink and drive as if our lives
depended on it, scrawl naughty messages on our notebooks and daydream, listen to
music blaring from our stereo with the highest volume and everything that a normal
teenager would do.

Teenage years or at least the early-twenties stage had been deemed one of the best
phases because this is where we tend to explore things, realize that a mistake can
still be corrected and be on our worst behavior with little judgment. The quickened
pulse of being young had been an indescribable feeling, and when you travel and
feel this way over again, get your bags packed and go straight to a humble little
town in Portugal called Coimbra. Streets are festooned with college kids chilling,
walls being decorated with artsy hand-painted murals and the experience a crowd
that’s restless and profound.

**Location**

⌊coimbramap⌉⌊coimbramap⌉(2)

Coimbra is perched in Portugal’s very center in junction with Braga and Lisbon.
As the country’s third largest city, Coimbra is 122 miles away from the capital
city and 72 miles from Porto.

Coimbra is also surrounded by passable river ways and conduits that are connected
to smaller towns and cities. On its northeast, Penecova is located, Miranda do Corvo
on the southeast tip, Condeixa-a-Nova to its south, Vila Nova de Poiares located
on the eastern section, Cantanhede to the northwest and Montemor-o-Velho on the
western pole.

**Climate**

⌊coimbraclimate⌉⌊coimbraclimate⌉(3)

According to the Koppen Climate Classification, Coimbra is experiencing a mild Mediterranean
climate with July to August as the hottest months and December until February for
the winter season.

Temperatures for winter can drop as low as 5-degree Celsius and summer’s heat can
shoot the bar up to 29-degrees. There are at least 10 days annually with a frigid
0-degree Celsius temperature and almost 33 days with a 30-degree mark for the highest
string of days.

**Transportation**

⌊coimbratranspo⌉⌊coimbratranspo⌉(4)

Getting in and out of the city using public transportation will involve two ways:
either you take it by buses via the Coimbra Municipality Urban Transport Services
or the Coimbra Trolleybus System. If you wanted to make the wandering even more
secure and private, look for the black-and-green taxicabs circling around the city
center and make your way to Coimbra’s veins.

You might also notice that the city’s Mondego River is intelligently connected to
three major bridges—Ponte do Acude, Ponte de Santa Clara and Ponte Europa—which
makes traveling by commuting all the more accessible and wide. Getting in and out
by air would use the service of the only air terminal in Coimbra which is 4.7 miles
away from the city center, specifically located in Cernache.

**What to See**

**Museu Nacional de Machado de Castro**

⌊machadocastromuseum⌉⌊machadocastromuseum⌉(5)

Be in the know and get into Portugal’s deepest cultural heritage by visiting this
museum. Just recently reopened and refurbished for better tourist experience, submerge
yourself in endless artsy sculptures, artifacts collected from nearby cities and
even countries, famous paintings such as that of Hodart’s version of the Last Supper
and other Moorish-influenced pieces.

**Arco de Almedina**

⌊arcoalmedina⌉⌊arcoalmedina⌉(6)

The Arco de Almedina is a famous landmark in Coimbra due to its historical foothold.
Installed in the 19th century by the city government, this staircase would give
you a picturesque view of the Mondego River.

**Biblioteca Joanina**

⌊joaninalibrary⌉⌊joaninalibrary⌉(7)

and gardens to shoo all the negativities away and the bustling canopies of arts,
culture, modern living and urban setting compounded to provide you a vacation that
